Southampton In Talks For Yet Another Manchester City Starlet

Saints have shopped at the Etihad frequently in recent years and with some mixed results, so will their latest visit to the Man City August sales be a bargain or a failure, we might soon find out.

According to [the72.co.uk](http://the72.co.uk/2026/08/10/southampton-enter-talks-sign-divin-mubama-manchetser-city/) Saints are in talks with Manchester City for striker Divina Mubama.

The centre forward who will turn 22 in October started his career with West Ham United and made 8 appearances as a sub for the Hammers in the Premier League, they wanted him to stay, but with his contract expiring in the summer of 2024, he chose to run it down and joined Manchester City for an undisclosed development fee.

This could perhaps be described as a poor move, on the verge of a breakthrough at West Ham, he found himself back in the academy set up with City and in his first season he only made a sub appearance in the league for city, plus as few other cameo's in cup games.

Last season he joined Stoke City on loan, initially it looked good, a goal in two of his first three games had the fans talking. But then he would go almost 3 months before his next goal a hat trick against Bristol City in November.

But these would be his last goals for Stoke, an injury in January meant that he would make only one more appearance for the Potters that being March and then his season was over.

He would end his time there with 20(6) league appearances and 5 goals.

He is certainly a talent and has scored in pre season for City and he has impressed new head coach Enzo Maresca, who is looking for him to have a good loan spell in the Championship to boost his first team chances on his return.

The London born striker has also impressed at U21 level for England, playing 7 games last season and scoring 5 goals.

Southampton fans will remember him for his 59th minute red card for Stoke at St Mary's last August.

This could go either way if Saints sign him, but he is certainly rated by City.
