Liverpool will begin their Premier League 2 campaign with a trip to Goodison Park to face Everton after the fixtures for the forthcoming season were confirmed.

The under-21s will make the short journey to face their neighbours at the former home of the Blues' men's team on Friday, August 21 for a game that will kick-off at 7pm.

Everton left Goodison last year after 133 years at the ground and moved into their new £800million Hill Dickinson Stadium at Bramley Moore Dock.

Everton Women have since been using Goodison for their home games - they were beaten 3-2 by Liverpool Women there in March - while the stadium hosted the League Cup first round tie between Preston North End and Huddersfield Town at the weekend.

And while the Blues have played at Goodison for a number of U21 games last season, it will be the first time the mini-derby has taken place there since the move to Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Liverpool U21s' first home game in Premier League 2 is on Sunday, August 30 against Leeds United at the Academy in Kirkby. Their 20-game season also includes visits from Manchester United and Arsenal and a trip to Manchester City.

Rob Page's side finished seventh last season to earn a place in the play-offs, where they beaten in the first round at home by Crystal Palace. There will be 31 teams in the expanded Premier League 2 this campaign.
