Spadaro: Dontayvion Wicks wants to 'keep rising' with Eagles

The transition – to a new team, to a new town – has been smooth for Dontayvion Wicks, just as he expected it to be. He is a likable young man, a hard-working wide receiver, and his goal is to "stack days and keep rising," and that has been his focus as a Philadelphia Eagle.

A young player acquired in an offseason trade with Green Bay, Wicks has stepped in and stepped up early in this 2026 Training Camp, gaining attention last week with his spectacular, leaping, one-handed catch of a Jalen Hurts pass.

Suddenly, he's been a topic of conversation and curiosity for the fans and the dozens of reporters covering the team on a daily basis.

"Just taking advantage of when the ball comes my way," Wicks said. "That's my job. Find a way to make a play. If I get my hands on the ball, I'm bringing it in."

As the Eagles' new-look offense takes shape, Wicks has a central role along with the rest of the players in the deep and talented receivers room. He has a good handle on the offense and the parts of it that he became familiar with in his three seasons with the Packers, with whom Eagles Offensive Coordinator Sean Mannion coached for the last couple of seasons. The rest of it, the blend of what the Eagles are retaining from previous years here and what they are implementing anew as they install the passing game, is part of the learning process.

And as Wicks sees it, the effort is a collective one.

"We have a great group of guys here and we all want to push each other to be better and make it a great offense no matter who is on the field," Wicks said. "It's been fun being here and getting to know everyone. We all connect, a lot like it was in Green Bay. When you have that kind of approach, that kind of commitment, it's why these kinds of teams have success.

"This team, everyone wants to be around each other. We like being in the building, working together. We have some great personalities here. They're fun to be around."
