Fenway Sports Group is set to sell of one-third of the majority stake in Liverpool, with new investment worth just short of $2 billion from a consortium of investors.
That consortium is led by Amit Bhatia, the British entregopreneur, along with the backing of the Mittal family, which made money mostly from the Indian steel industry. Another famous face in the consortium is Amazon founder and fourth-richest man in the world Jeff Bezos, who will take his first dive into investment in the world of sports.
Then there's Eduardo Saverin, another notable billionaire who is set to join the group that will invest in Liverpool, with reports claiming a full takeover could be on the cards in years to come.
Saverin's story to reach Anfield is an interesting one, however. From founding a social media giant to becoming a star figure in a hit film, here's a look at everything you need to know about the investor.
Background and early life
Eduardo Saverin was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil to his father, Roberto Saverin, and his mother, Sandra Saverin. Roberto was a businessman who worked across several different sectors, while Sandra was a psychologist.
In 1993, the family emigrated from Brazil to America in Miami. While there, Saverin attended prep school, before attending Harvard University, where he would graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics.
Personal life
After spending 18 years in America, Severin left the country and immigrated to Singapore, where he had to renounce his US citizenship.
While there, he married Elaine Andriejanssen in 2015, tying the knot after meeting in Massachusetts years prior, with the former attending Harvard and the latter attending Tufts University.
Andriejanssen comes from a wealthy family who run several different businesses in Indonesia. Since marrying, the pair have created the Eduardo and Elaine Saverin Foundation in Singapore, where they donate to causes such as wildlife conservation, education, and healthcare.
Career

Saverin's career kickstarted early when he was attending Harvard, as he and Mark Zuckerberg met while attending University, going on to create the social media platform Facebook.
The pair co-founded the website, both investing an initial $1,000 into the project, before a further $18,000 each was poured into the website, which started as a networking platform just for Harvard students.
Over time, it grew into the giant it is today, but that wasn't without its disputes. Zuckerberg and Saverin had disagreements throughout their years working together, with Facebook moving to sue the latter over a historic stock-purchase agreement, while there was a countersuing in place, before all parties settled it out of court in 2009.
Those disagreements became the basis for the hit film "The Social Network", where Saverin was played by Andrew Garfield.
In 2015, Saverin co-founded B Capital, a venture capital firm in California, which is reported to have $9 billion worth of assets under management.
Saverin net worth
According to estimates from Forbes, Saverin is believed to be worth roughly $33 billion, with most of his wealth still coming from Facebook and the main holding company, Meta.
