Barcelona are expected to part ways with several players before the summer transfer window closes at the end of the month. Ferran Torres is closing in on a move to Paris Saint-Germain, and while Roony Bardghji’s exit is no longer certain after he was seriously injured in training, it is likely that Hector Fort departs.
Despite having been [registered with La Liga](https://barcanewsnetwork.com/barcelona-register-young-defender-with-la-liga-as-he-fights-for-first-team-role/) in recent weeks, Fort is not believed to be part of Hansi Flick’s plans for the 2026-27 season. He has Jules Kounde, Eric Garcia and Xavi Espart ahead of him in the right-back pecking order, and thus, it is almost certain that he will be leaving for the second summer in a row.
Barcelona are willing to entertain transfer or loan offers for Fort, although the former must contain clauses that allow the club to retain control over his future. He’s received a lot of interest in recent weeks, and according to Sport, one of those keeping tabs on the 20-year-old is Premier League side Fulham, who are managed by ex-Real Madrid head coach Alvaro Arbeloa.
Last season, Arbeloa became known for his commitment to giving youth players a chance. It did not in the short term as Real Madrid failed to win any trophies, but it did give exposure to a number of players that have since been sold for good fees – which is someone that Barcelona would welcome when it comes to Fort.
Arbeloa’s desire to count on younger players means that Fort could have plenty of opportunities if he ends up joining Fulham this summer. This would be excellent for his development, rather than sitting on the bench for the vast majority of the 2026-27 season, which is what would happen if he were to remain at the Spotify Camp Nou.
