Coventry City have ‘come knocking’ for the signature of AC Milan’s Fikayo Tomori.
That’s according to Ialian outlet Quotidiano Sportivo who say the Sky Blues are one of three clubs keen to offer the centre back a way out of the San Siro.
Liverpool and Newcastle are also listed with the claim the former Chelsea trainee is expected to leave this summer, with only one year left on his deal.
Tomori has worked for Frank Lampard at both Derby County and Chelsea, with the link an obvious one. The 28-year-old, who was born in Canada, came through the Stamford Bridge youth set-up and spent the 2018/19 season at Pride Park making 55 appearances.
He moved to AC Milan in 2021, first on loan and then permanently, since when he has won Serie A and the Supercoppa, while playing 214 games. However, he looks set to be a bit-part player under Ruben Amorim and was an unused substitute in the 3-0 pre-season loss to Chelsea at the weekend.
However, the Sky Blues do seem well-stocked at centre back with last year’s first choice pair Liam Kitching and Bobby Thomas having been augmented by the arrival of Aurèle Amenda this summer.
