Como officially sign Chelsea star ahead of Liverpool game

Liverpool suffered their second consecutive pre-season defeat on Sunday, losing 3-2 to Monaco at Anfield. The Reds appeared in control after goals from Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz, but a much-changed side surrendered their lead in the second half.

The result gives new head coach Andoni Iraola plenty to ponder ahead of Liverpool’s final pre-season fixtures against Como 1907 on Sunday.

Ahead of the games, Como have officially completed the signing of England international Trevoh Chalobah from Chelsea.

The 27-year-old has signed a contract until 2031, with Chelsea receiving an initial £25.7million and a further £5.1million in potential add-ons.

Chalobah leaves Chelsea after nearly 20 years at the club. He made 151 appearances and won five trophies, including the FA Cup and Conference League. He also spent time on loan at Ipswich Town, Huddersfield Town, Lorient and Crystal Palace.

Having represented England at youth level, Chalobah made his senior international debut in 2025 and was part of the squad that finished third at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

On his arrival, Trevoh said: “I’m thrilled and honored to be here at Como: it’s an ambitious, rising project, and working with manager Cesc Fàbregas again is truly special.

“I can’t wait to bring my experience to the team, feel the incredible atmosphere at the stadium, and connect with the fans. I will give my absolute all every single day to make history together”.

Como coach Cesc Fabregas added: “Trevoh is an important signing for us and a player who represents the level of ambition we have at this club. He has competed and won at the highest level, but he is also hungry to begin a new chapter and continue improving.

“He gives us strength, speed and personality in defence, as well as the technical quality to build from the back. He is a leader who can raise the level of the team, and I am very happy that he has chosen Como.” Chalobah could be in line to make his unofficial debut for the Serie A club against Iraola’s side at Anfield.
