The draw for the second round of the Carabao Cup takes place this evening and it’s a early start for Chelsea and Tottenham, in particular, following their respective tenth and 17th-placed Premier League finishes in the 2025-26 campaign. As such, they join the first batch of top-flight sides entering at this stage due to not having any European commitments this season.
Like the Carabao Cup first round, the second round is regionalised. This means those representing the capital - Brentford, Fulham, Charlton, Millwall, West Ham and AFC Wimbledon - will avoid long trips up north for a midweek fixture later this month and therefore, the possibility of at least one London derby is significantly high.
Newcastle, winners of this competition in 2025, are in the hat along with the likes of Everton, Leeds, Nottingham Forest and a number of Championship big-hitters hoping to secure a favourable tie. There is still one more game to be played, but not before we discover how the next round will shape up. Hello and welcome to Standard Sport’s LIVE coverage of the Carabao Cup second round draw.
