Arsenal are interested in Chelsea forward Pedro Neto, according to Blues reporter Simon Phillips.
Arsenal are still looking to sign another left winger despite missing out on Vinicius Junior, who has opted to extend his contract at Real Madrid.
Despite fresh reports linking the Gunners with Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola and Juventus’ Kenan Yildiz, a move for either attacker currently looks unlikely.
The north London side are now considering a move for Neto. They have reportedly informed the forward’s representatives of their interest in signing him.
Manchester City and Liverpool have also been linked with the Portugal international.
Chelsea are not actively looking to sell Neto, but would consider a bid in the region of £70 million for the former Wolverhampton Wanderers star.
Neto could face stiff competition for playing time next season following the arrivals of Morgan Rogers and Geovany Quenda. He could be open to leaving the Blues.
Primarily a right winger, Neto can equally operate on the left. He has featured in 36 games on the left flank, registering 11 goal involvements.
Neto is a direct forward adept at carrying the ball and attacking space, making him dangerous in transition. He also excels at delivering crosses into the penalty area.
However, his end product is inconsistent. The Portugal-born winger has never scored more than five goals in a Premier League campaign.
If Arsenal cannot land a world-class winger, they should stick with Gabriel Martinelli and Christos Tzolis as their left-wing options.
Martinelli would be encouraged to rediscover his best form to extend his stay with the Gunners, having entered the final 12 months of his contract.
Tzolis, who joined Arsenal last month, has looked sharp in pre-season, registering three goal contributions in as many games.
