Gabriel Jesus’ agent Giovanni Branchini has addressed speculation linking the Arsenal forward with a move to Napoli, insisting that no negotiations have taken place with either the player or the Gunners.
Napoli have been credited with an interest in the Brazilian in recent days as they look to strengthen their attack, but Branchini has now moved to clarify the situation.
Speaking to Corriere dello Sport, the agent confirmed that Napoli have not yet entered into negotiations for the 29-year-old.
“We have never spoken about this situation: there has never been any negotiation and consequently there could not have been any approval from us or the player,” Branchini said.
The comments appear to pour cold water on suggestions that a deal is already being explored between the Italian club and Gabriel Jesus.
Branchini did, however, reveal that a number of clubs have made enquiries about the Arsenal forward’s situation in recent months.
“Since several months ago, many clubs have been sounding out the situation of the player to understand what Arsenal’s intentions are, as well as the figures and expectations,” he explained.
The agent revealed that three Italian clubs have previously shown interest, while a potential fourth had considered pursuing Gabriel Jesus when it appeared they were preparing to sell an important attacker.
He also confirmed that a couple of Turkish clubs had made approaches, but those possibilities were rejected because the player has no interest in moving to Turkey.
Beyond those enquiries, Branchini said there have been no other significant negotiations.
That means Napoli currently remain at the stage of an idea rather than an active transfer operation.
The situation could potentially change, however, with Napoli still looking to reshape their attacking options.
The Italian club are dealing with the futures of Romelu Lukaku and Noa Lang, while they are also assessing the situation surrounding Lorenzo Lucca. Those departures could be important if Napoli decide to make a serious attempt for Gabriel Jesus.
Branchini was also asked whether the Napoli dream could eventually become a reality.
His response left the door slightly open, but only under circumstances that do not currently exist.
“Dreaming, potentially, is possible under certain conditions that at this stage do not exist,” he said.
The comments therefore provide a much clearer picture of Gabriel Jesus’ situation.
There is interest from clubs around Europe and Arsenal are aware of that, but Napoli have not negotiated with either the player or Arsenal at this stage.
For now, Gabriel Jesus remains an Arsenal player, with any potential move to Napoli dependent on circumstances changing significantly in the coming weeks.
