Patriots Agree To Trade With The Miami Dolphins In AFC East Trade
As part of the trade, the Patriots have sent OL Caedan Wallace and a 2029 seventh-round draft pick to the Dophins in exchange for a 2028 sixth-round draft pick.
Additionally, the Patriots re-signed LS Niko Lalos. On March 16, 2026, Lalos was signed by New England and released on May 20, 2026.
As a third-round draft pick out of Penn State in the 2024 NFL Draft, Wallace joined New England at 26 years old. During the last two seasons, the 6-foot-5, 320-pounder started two games. As a rookie, he started two games at left tackle, against the New York Jets on Sept. 19, 2024, and against Buffalo on Jan. 5, 2025.

Wallace’s trade shows the Dolphins learned a valuable lesson: their backup tackle position could be essential. Due to an injury to Austin Jackson, the team’s replacement (Charlie Heck) struggled mightily in practice.
Wallace didn’t quite work out in New England, but considering Miami’s offesnive line, he may get more opportunities to prove himself with the Dolphins.
