[WTOP](https://wtop.com/washington-commanders/2026/08/a-salute-to-service-includes-some-serious-drilling-nfl-style/) reports that the teams of service members were led through a variety of drills, including the broad jump, the 40-yard dash, throwing and catching tests, and the three-cone drill, which tests the ability to switch direction in a tight setting. The event was part of the USAA’s [Salute to Service](https://www.nfl.com/causes/salute/) campaign.
Unbeknownst to the participants, the winning team would get two free tickets to a Commanders home game.
