Each year, the Seahawks help recognize a different military service each year: rotating through the 5 branches -- Army, Airforce, Navy, Coast Guard, Marines, and on Monday, the U.S. Coast Guard Northwest District passed the recognition to the Naval Air Station of Whidbey Island.

This is Seattle's 15th season participating in the event.

Following practice, Macdonald said it was "cool" to have the group at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center.

"It was military day today, so we had a lot of folks, seemed like really all branches, but especially the Coast Guard, which was cool. Guy's doing a great job hanging out with them and it was a great practice."

Having different groups at practice, whether it be the Blue Angels or the Coast Guard, is a way for Macdonald and the team to show their appreciation for the military.

"It easily puts things in perspective and we're so thankful for our military men and women," Macdonald said. "I was just joking with a couple of guys in the Coast Guard, you put me out in the ocean, man. It's not a good combination. So we're thankful for what they do. It's an easy way for us to show a part of our appreciation for what they do. So wish we could do more."
