Jeff Hafley is going to enjoy using De'Von Achane on the field throughout the course of the Miami Dolphins' 2026 campaign.

Hafley is preparing for the first year of his head coaching career in the NFL with the Dolphins, previously being the Green Bay Packers' offensive coordinator in 2024 and 2025. He looks forward to coaching Achane, who shines as one of the most productive running backs in the league.

Hafley made an appearance on the Rich Eisen Show on Monday. They discussed Achane's presence in the offense, which the head coach didn't hesitate to determine a high volume of usage for the star running back.

“I told him you better be in good shape because I told him there might be some games where I have to pick him up and carry him back into the locker room because he's going to be so tired. And I told him I don't ever want to see one of these head taps all year. And he looked me right in the eye and said, “You'll never get that head tap for me, I said. Don't worry, buddy. After you touch the ball 4045, times, I'm gonna have to pick you up, and I'll carry you back into the locker room,” Hafley said.

“I love the guy. You want to talk about a guy with some juice and a guy whose personality starting to come out and a guy who's starting to become a leader. I just like those guys who can kind of give it back to you a little bit and have some fun.”

What lies ahead for De'Von Achane, Dolphins

Jeff Hafley has big expectations waiting for him as the Dolphins' head coach. Maximizing De'Von Achane's production will be high among his top goals going into the 2026 season.

Achane certainly deserves his status as a star rusher. Last season saw him rack up 238 carries for 1,350 yards and eight touchdowns. He also made 67 catches for 488 yards and four touchdowns.

Miami begins the season on the road, taking on the Las Vegas Raiders. That matchup commences on Sept. 1 at 4:25 p.m. ET.
