Things are heating up at Las Vegas Raiders training camp, and it’s not just the Nevada sun. During a live 11-on-11 session on Friday, veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins and star edge rusher Maxx Crosby got into a heated scuffle. The altercation led to both players sitting out full-team drills on Saturday.

The fight kicked off after Crosby hit Cousins' arm and tipped a pass, forcing an incompletion. The 37-year-old quarterback immediately charged the 6-foot-5, 256-pound defensive end. Cousins grabbed Crosby's jersey and shoved him before teammates quickly separated the two. Head coach Klint Kubiak swiftly disciplined both veterans for violating team rules. Still, the intense exchange sparked questions about Crosby’s long-term future in Las Vegas.

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter recently shed light on the situation. He suggested the scuffle simply highlights the competitive passion both players bring to the field.

“For Kirk Cousins to get worked up enough to go at somebody as strong as Maxx Crosby tells you that he had to be pretty pissed off about the whole situation,” Schefter noted.

Schefter added that despite a wild offseason where a trade to the Baltimore Ravens fell through due to medical concerns, Crosby remains completely invested. “I think the real question with Maxx Crosby and his future in Vegas comes down to what happens if this team doesn't perform well,” he explained.

What NFL team was originally based in Portsmouth, Ohio?

While fans won't find stats for this training camp dust-up, Crosby's recent production reveals his relentless drive. During the 2025 season, he racked up 73 combined tackles, 10 sacks, two forced fumbles, and an interception across 15 games.

The Raiders desperately need that exact level of intensity if they want to bounce back from a brutal 3-14 campaign last year. If Cousins and Crosby channel that fiery energy toward their opponents this fall, the locker room will be perfectly fine. For now, they just need to stop fighting each other.
