The Arizona Cardinals are working hard in training camp to prepare for the 2026 NFL season. However, there are still some off-field issues that need to be addressed before the 2026 NFL season. One important item to figure out is the future of star receiver Michael Wilson.
Wilson has emerged as a reliable pass catcher in this Cardinals offense. With a new look coaching staff, there's a chance this team can go far, and Wilson could enjoy a true breakout campaign. In saying this, he is a free agent after this season. When asked if Arizona expected a deal to be done soon, general manager Monti Ossenfort had an eye-opening answer.
“He's a guy we want around here a long time,” Ossenfort said, via team beat reporter Darren Urban. “Expect? That's a tough word. Our interest is in keeping him here.”
Wilson was a big part of Arizona's offense in 2025. He recorded 1000 yards receiving in 2025 while catching seven touchdowns. He formed a solid receiving duo with tight end Trey McBride, who is establishing himself as one of the NFL's premier tight ends.
Arizona's offense has some new faces this year. Kendrick Bourne joined the team this spring to provide additional receiving depth. Running back Jeremiyah Love was drafted third overall in the 2026 NFL Draft, as well. He is expected to help establish a dynamic rushing attack.
It's hard to ignore Wilson's presence in this offense, though. If the Cardinals don't have him on the field, things could go wrong in a hurry for Arizona. It will certainly be interesting to see if Arizona can come to terms with the 26-year-old on a new contract before the season begins.
