Christian Norgaard has sent an emotional farewell message to Arsenal supporters after completing his permanent move to Everton.
The Denmark international thanked Mikel Arteta and his coaching staff for believing he could contribute at the highest level, while admitting he understood his role was primarily as a squad player.
Norgaard left the Emirates after just one season, having made 20 appearances in all competitions during Arsenal’s Premier League-winning campaign.
Everton completed his signing last week on a two-year contract. The transfer fee was officially undisclosed, although reports have placed the deal at around £7million.

Norgaard has now posted a farewell message to Arsenal on Instagram, reflecting on his year in north London and the opportunity Arteta handed him.
He wrote:
“I want to thank the manager and his staff for believing that my talent and human qualities could play a role at the absolute highest level. I am aware that my role has been more as a squad player and in that role I have done the best I could.”
Those comments offer an honest assessment of Norgaard’s position during his only season at Arsenal.
The 32-year-old featured just seven times in the Premier League, with established options such as Declan Rice, Martin Zubimendi and Mikel Merino regularly ahead of him. His contribution went beyond minutes on the pitch, however, with Arteta repeatedly praising the experience and leadership he added to the dressing room.
ReadArsenal reported after his move was confirmed that Norgaard had sought a bigger role after finding regular opportunities difficult to come by at the Emirates.
Arteta was also particularly complimentary about the midfielder following his departure, describing him as an important figure within Arsenal’s title-winning group.
Norgaard’s Arsenal career may have lasted only one season, but his farewell makes clear how highly he valued the opportunity.
He now moves to Everton with the chance to play a more prominent role, while Arsenal continue to reshape a midfield which has become increasingly competitive this summer.
