£70m-rated Chelsea forward set to stay after major Man City transfer twist

£70m-rated Chelsea forward set to stay after major Man City transfer twist

Chelsea have received fresh clarity over Pedro Neto’s future after Manchester City reportedly cooled their interest in the Portugal international.

Sky Sports reporter Ben Ransom says City are not currently interested in signing Neto, despite the winger being heavily linked with a move to the Etihad this summer.

The development comes just days after Manchester City were reported to have made contact with Neto’s representatives over a possible transfer.

ReadChelsea reported last week that Chelsea had no desire to sell Neto and still regarded him as part of Xabi Alonso’s plans.

The Blues had reportedly placed a valuation of around £70million on the winger, with a substantial offer potentially required to force them into reconsidering their position.

City’s interest appeared to be progressing when ReadChelsea subsequently reported that contact had been made with Neto’s camp over a possible move.

However, the situation has now changed.

Sky Sports reporter Ben Ransom now says Manchester City are not interested in signing Neto this summer.

The situation could still change before the transfer window closes, but for now one of the most prominent potential destinations for the 26-year-old appears to have been removed.

That should come as welcome clarity for Chelsea.

Neto has remained involved throughout pre-season and started the recent friendly against AC Milan, while Alonso continues to assess an attack strengthened significantly during the summer.

Chelsea may still have decisions to make if another club meets their valuation, but a move to Manchester City no longer appears likely at this stage.
