Excitement is growing ahead of the 2026/27 Premier League season, with less than two weeks to go until Arsenal and Coventry City battle it out in the curtain raiser at the Emirates Stadium. It’s got all the makings of a classic campaign, as the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool and Man United look to challenge the Gunners for their league title.

It’s also getting busy in the summer transfer market, with the post-World Cup boom continuing to see Premier League clubs buy and sell players at a rapid pace. While there’s been a slight lull over the past week or so, things are expected to pick up again as the September 1st deadline near, with a big deal or two likely to trigger a domino effect of deals.
Today’s rumour mill round-up begins at the Emirates Stadium, where Arsenal have had a mixed window so far. They’ve missed out on both Morgan Rogers and Vinicius Junior, but have managed to sign Bruno Guimaraes and Christos Tzolis. They’re still eager to sign another left winger, but exits are expected to - one of whom is likely to be Gabriel Jesus.
Caught Offside report that Arsenal will require a minimum of £17m to consider selling the Brazil international, whose time at the club has been marred by a series of injury problems. Serie A side Napoli have now emerged as serious contenders for the ex-Man City star, with the player believed to be keen on sealing a move to the 2024/25 Serie A champions.
The 3AM Verdict: Things just haven’t worked out for Jesus at Arsenal, and a fresh start is surely the best thing for both parties. The significantly slower paced Serie A could be the ideal place for the 29-year-old to reignite his career, and you’d imagine Napoli should have the funds necessary to meet the Gunners’ relatively reasonable asking price.

Next, it’s over to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, where Everton are looking for fresh options on the wings. According to Football Insider, Newcastle United’s Jacob Murphy is now on their radar, with the Eddie Howe favourite tipped to leave the club following the head coach’s departure. The Toffees are said to be “waiting to pounce” as new Magpies boss Matthias Jaissle decides whether to keep him or not.
It’s said the Murphy is keen to stay at St. James’ Park and battle for his place in the squad, but could be moved on as he heads into the final year of his contact. Meanwhile, the Toffees are closing in on a move for Crystal Palace’s Brennan Johnson, with Dwight McNeil heading the other way in a rare straight swap transfer deal.
The 3AM Verdict: Murphy had a season to remember in 2024/25, scoring eight goals and making 12 assists in the Premier League. He didn’t get close to those numbers last season, and at 31-years-old, the Magpies may look to move him on for a fresher option. With just lliman Ndiaye as an out and out right winger, the Toffees could do with another, but he’d likely have to settle for a spot on the bench.

Last up, we’ll stay at St. James’ Park for an update on left-back Lewis Hall. The Newcastle star has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer, but so far the club have made it clear that they have no intention to sell, having already lost three key players. Team Talk now say that United have “parked their interest” in Hall and are looking at other option.
They claim that RB Leipzig star David Raum is now “high on their list”, as the player has an attractive £34m release clause. The German star is in the last 12 months of his contract, so could be sold for even less than his release clause. Club Brugge’s Joaquin Seys and Bournemouth’s Adrian Truffert are namechecked as other alternative targets.
The 3AM Verdict: We’re surprised that Raum hasn’t been snapped up by a Premier League club yet. He’s a real hidden gem who has the physical attributes to thrive in England’s top tier. With signing Hall likely to be either impossible or incredibly expensive to sign this summer, United should get Raum in for now, and then go back in for Hall in a year’s time.
