Arsenal made a second attempt to sign Tottenham defender Cristian Romero, according to journalist Alfredo Pedulla.
Writing on his X account, Pedulla said that the Gunners “tried again” on Friday morning to secure the Argentinian international’s signature. Atletico Madrid are currently favourites to snap up the former Spurs captain, and fans on X are hoping their club stay well away from the player:

Why have Arsenal even considered signing Romero?
The 28-year-old is on the market, having told Tottenham that he wanted to leave at the end of last season.
Romero is also reportedly available for a reasonable price – €40m (£34m) – making him a cheaper alternative to Aston Villa’s Ezri Konsa.
The England international’s valuation is said to be £60m, which means that Romero would cost just over half that amount.
Of course, it’s very likely that Spurs would have demanded more from their North London rivals anyway, so you do feel that this transfer was a non-starter from the get-go.
Who could the Gunners pursue instead?
Konsa remains the top target, and it has been claimed that the Premier League champions will table a second bid for the 28-year-old, having already had an opening offer rejected by Villa.
Como’s Jacobo Ramon is also believed to be on the club’s shortlist, but that deal would be just as complicated as one for Romero.
Real Madrid have a buyback option and a sell-on clause on the centre-half, so agreements would have to be reached with the Spanish giants and Como before any transfer could be finalised.
Some supporters argue that manager Mikel Arteta should rely on Cristhian Mosquera and Ben White in William Saliba’s absence, but it’s clear he wants to bring in reinforcements at the back before the transfer window shuts at the start of next month.
