Everton have signed Brennan Johnson with the winger joining from Crystal Palace in a series of deals that will see Dwight McNeil move in the opposite direction.

The 25-year-old has signed a four-year contract with the Blues just seven months after he arrived at the Eagles for a then club record £35million fee from Tottenham Hotspur.

Capped 45 times by Wales and having scored seven international goals, Johnson started out with his home city club Nottingham Forest.

After making his senior breakthrough during a loan spell at Lincoln City in 2020/21, he struck double figures for the East Midlands outfit in back-to-back seasons before joining Spurs for £47.5million on September 1, 2023 and netting 18 goals in all competitions for the north London side in 2024/25.

Upon completing his switch, Johnson said: “I'm so excited to be here. The club speaks for itself – it's a massive club and one that when I first heard of the interest, I immediately wanted to come and be part of it."

McNeil, 26, joined Everton from Burnley for £20million on July 28, 2022, and made 128 appearances for the Blues, scoring 15 goals.

He was set to join Crystal Palace on loan on deadline day of the winter transfer window earlier this year with an obligation for a £20million move this summer but the deal collapsed at the south London club’s end at the 11th hour with the player’s partner, Megan Sharpley, taking to social media to hit out at how the confusion had left them “broken-hearted” and “hurt more than I can say.”

He will now head to Selhurst Park after what Everton described as four years of "loyal service" on Merseyside.

The club said: "Everyone at Everton thanks Dwight for his commitment and effort throughout his time at the club and wishes him all the best for the future."
