Chelsea have been offered the chance to make a shock move for Arsenal’s Myles Lewis-Skelly, and if the Blues have been listening to Cesc Fabregas, they should wrap up a deal immediately.
Chelsea are about to announce their 11th signing of the summer in Pep Chavarria from Rayo Vallecano. But the Blues are in the market for more additions, it seems, and Arsenal’s Lewis-Skelly has been offered.
The Blues have wanted to sign Lewis-Skelly in the past, but the England star is regarded as one of the Gunners’ best prospects. He aims to play in central midfield, but he continues to be played at left-back.
Arsenal have landed Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United, and it has seen Lewis-Skelly fall down the pecking order at The Emirates. Lewis-Skelly is now available, and Chelsea have been offered his services.

Fabregas has just done some business with Chelsea, securing the signing of Trevoh Chalobah. But the former Arsenal and Chelsea man is a big fan of what could end up being Chelsea’s next signing.

This time last year, Fabregas was quoted by The Mail’s Instagram. He gave his verdict on Lewis-Skelly and another Arsenal player previously linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, in midfielder Ethan Nwaneri.
“They don’t need any advice; they are too good. They are two top talents. They don’t need any type of advice because they are doing even much better than what I did when I was very young,” Fabregas said.
“What I like the most about them two is that they have so much personality; they are not afraid of the big stage. They play against Man City, they score goals, they are men of the match, they make an impact.

“It’s not only them two. When (Bukayo) Saka came on a couple of years ago, he had the same impact. It’s great to see because there is a lot of work behind the scenes. It’s fantastic to see these boys deliver.”
Chelsea might not need him now, but they could do later on
Lewis-Skelly is one of those players who benefits from having two natural positions: left-back and central midfield. As things stand, Chelsea are well-stocked in both positions with Chavarria set to sign on.
Behind Chavarria, Chelsea have Jorrel Hato. Valentin Barco can play on the left as a wing-back, as can Jamie Gittens – though he didn’t perform particularly well in that role against Malaysian side JDT.
In midfield, Lewis-Skelly would likely be behind Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez in the pecking order. But there is a chance that certain players could still leave Chelsea, making Lewis-Skelly’s signing crucial.
If Chelsea are told they can land the Hale End academy graduate for a decent fee, one around the £50m mark, then it makes sense. But Chelsea cannot be tempted to pay through the nose for Lewis-Skelly.
