Arsenal have strengthened their performance department with the appointment of Spanish sports scientist Yeray Abreu Martínez.
The move comes as Mikel Arteta continues to manage significant injury problems involving William Saliba and Jurrien Timber ahead of the new season.
Abreu Martínez specialises in physical performance, rehabilitation and strength and conditioning and has now confirmed his move to north London.
The appointment gives Arsenal further specialist support as the Premier League champions prepare for another demanding campaign.

Now Arsenal reports that Abreu Martínez has officially joined the club after previously working within elite-level strength, conditioning and rehabilitation.
Confirming the move, he said he was “proud and grateful to be part of the Arsenal family”.
The timing is notable given Arsenal’s current fitness situation.
ReadArsenal reported on Sunday that Saliba faces an extended spell on the sidelines with the back problem aggravated during the World Cup.
Timber is also still several weeks away from being available, with Arteta confirming after the Borussia Dortmund defeat that the Dutch defender is progressing but has not yet returned.
Those absences have already influenced Arsenal’s transfer planning, with another defender among the positions being considered before the window closes.
Abreu Martínez’s role will be broader than simply working with injured players, however.
His background covers rehabilitation, conditioning and physical preparation, areas which have become increasingly important as clubs attempt to manage players through congested domestic and European schedules.
Arsenal have continued to strengthen their support structure behind the scenes as Arteta attempts to maintain the standards required to defend the Premier League title.
Abreu Martínez now becomes the latest addition to that operation, arriving at a particularly important moment for Arsenal’s medical and performance teams.
