Club Period Appearances Goals

Nottingham Forest 2019–2023 109 29

Lincoln City (loan) 2020–21 48 13

Tottenham Hotspur 2023–Jan 2026 107 27

Crystal Palace Jan 2026– 26 2

Johnson joined Tottenham Hotspur in August 2023 and enjoyed his most productive season in north London in 2024/25, scoring 18 goals in 51 appearances in all competitions, including 11 Premier League goals.

His defining moment came in the 2025 Europa League final, when he scored the only goal in Tottenham’s 1–0 victory over Manchester United in Bilbao. He finished that campaign as Spurs’ leading scorer.

Johnson departed Tottenham for Crystal Palace in January 2026 after making 107 appearances and scoring 27 goals for Spurs.

Johnson chose to represent Wales at senior level despite being born in England. He made his Wales debut in September 2020 and has subsequently established himself as an important attacking option for Cymru.

His pace, direct running and ability to play on either flank have been among his most notable characteristics throughout his career.

He is particularly effective attacking space behind defensive lines and arriving at the far post.

Gary is editor for ReadEverton. He has many years experience of sports writing behind him after deciding (belatedly) that the world of accountancy wasn't for him. His work has been featured on (among many others) BBC Sport and The Metro. He has written on many sports, but considers himself an expert in football and F1. When not writing and editing he likes to go to the cinema and sip a lovely cold pint of Guinness (not always at the same time).
