Manchester United have been offered the chance to sign Myles Lewis-Skelly as they continue to hunt for a left-back during the summer transfer window.

Arsenal are considering cashing in on the 19-year-old academy graduate and Chelsea have also been made aware that he could be on the market in the final weeks of the window.

United showed some interest in the teenager towards the end of last season, but any potential move looked to be in difficulty when Lewis-Skelly emerged from nowhere to start five of the final six games of the season for Mikel Arteta's side.

Having started once in the Premier League until that point, Lewis-Skelly came into the team in midfield and played all 120 minutes of the Champions League final against Paris St-Germain, but Arsenal's £75million move for Bruno Guimaraes has bumped him back down the pecking order.

Arsenal could now sell Lewis-Skelly to recoup some of the outlay on 28-year-old Guimaraes, while Ricardo Califori and Piero Hincapie are blocking his route to games at left-back.

United are looking at their options in that position, having so far been thwarted in their attempts to sign Lewis Hall from Newcastle. With Guimaraes following Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali out of St James' Park, the Magpies are determined not to sanction the sale of another star name.

Lewis-Skelly fits the profile of left-back that United have looked at this summer, as someone young enough to challenge and eventually succeed Luke Shaw in that position. Shaw is in the final year of his current deal at Old Trafford.

Premier League experience is also seen as a positive in recruitment circles at Old Trafford and Lewis-Skelly ticks that box, while he could also offer more cover in midfield. United are weighing up a third signing in that area after spending a combined £85million on Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans.
