Everton's interest in Celtic defender Alistair Johnston is "not dead", according to a report.
The Premier League side were believed to be close to a deal for the right-back as recently as last week but that seemed to be cooled as they seemingly looked towards other options.
Johnston played as the champions thumped Kilmarnock at the weekend and fans would hope to see him stick around for the season.
However, according to a report in the iPaper, the Toffees have not given up hope of signing the 27-year-old.
Right-back remains a priority for David Moyes, and Johnston is high on his wishlist. However, they will likely need to up their previous £12 million offer to land him.
Everton have been active in the transfer market in recent days, signing Hayden Hackney, Christian Norgaard and Brennan Johnson.
Their alternatives to Johnston at right-back include West Ham United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Genoa’s Brooke Norton-Cuffy.
