Personal terms agreed, transfer fee next: Liverpool have one step left to complete mega deal

Liverpool are yet to reach an agreement with PSG to sign Bradley Barcola, but as time runs out in the summer transfer window, fans become more and more worried.

The 23-year-old is supposed to be the centrepiece of Liverpool’s transfer business this summer. So as the clock ticks ever steadily towards the end of the summer window, it’s understandable that nerves are creeping into the fanbase.

Sporting director Richard Hughes has just completed a loan agreement with Barcelona to bring centre-back Ronald Araujo to Anfield, but agreeing a transfer fee for Barcola is proving much, much more difficult to negotiate.

Fabrizio Romano reported this week that Liverpool have agreed a contract with Bradley Barcola to remove the roadblock of agreeing personal terms, with an agreement with PSG all that stands in their way of completing a marquee deal for the French winger.

Liverpool are waiting for PSG to complete their transfer business to make headway on Bradley Barcola’s signing

talkSPORT journalist Ben Jacobs reports that progress will hopefully soon come on the Barcola file, with PSG’s transfer business beginning to reach its final stages.

Jacob reports: “Liverpool could develop as well. So we’re at that stage of market where there’s a lot of indirectly linked transfers where a club like Liverpool are waiting and as soon as PSG are in a position where they’ve added and they need to subtract, maybe it’s a better chance to get Barcola done.

“PSG are doubling down and sticking to €170m, hoping maybe another team like Arsenal comes forward, only to find that the window shuts and they’re stuck with a player that’s got only two years left on his contract. Liverpool are playing on that tactic waiting, being patient, and hoping that price drops.”

Is Barcola ill? Or is it just classic transfer mind games?

Last summer, Alexander Isak made the most taboo transfer move of all: he went on strike to force a move to Liverpool. Newcastle United fans argued that the Swede suffered from a classic karmic response when he was unfit all season before breaking his leg.

Now, it would appear to cynics that Barcola is employing a similar strategy as his future remains uncertain amid reports that he is ill despite recently returning from holiday after being granted extended leave due to how far France progressed at the World Cup.

I would predict Barcola isn’t ’ill’ but rather he’s getting closer to a move to Liverpool. #LFC

Whatever the case may be, I think we can all agree that the amount of time this transfer is taking to complete is becoming worrisome. Hopefully PSG and Liverpool can soon come to an agreement on a fee for the 23-year-old, with the Premier League transfer deadline of 1 September getting far too close for comfort.
