“No loan plans” – Adam Aznou set to stay and fight for Everton spot
Morocco international left-back Adam Aznou has no intention of leaving Everton on loan this summer and is focused on pushing for a place in David Moyes’ team.
According to a report from TEAMtalk’s Fraser Fletcher, the 20-year-old full-back is enjoying pre-season with Everton and has no loan offers or exit plans on the horizon.
Having signed from Bayern Munich last year, the young defender feels settled on Merseyside and wants to earn more top-flight minutes during the upcoming campaign.
Rumours had surfaced that a temporary move might be on the cards to get him regular game time, but the former La Masia prospect wants to stay and make his mark at the Hill Dickinson instead.
Keeping Aznou gives David Moyes direct cover and extra competition on the left side of defence alongside the much-derided Vitaliy Mykolenko.
Aznou’s decision to rule out a loan is a positive one and looks like a player ready to back himself in England’s top flight.
Instead of seeking football elsewhere, he is focused on using the rest of pre-season to impress the coaching staff and secure a bigger role in the squad.
Definitely one to watch, given the ongoing anxiety of Evertonians around the paucity of options in both full-back positions.
