It is Arsenal’s final friendly of the summer. Arteta’s side started pre-season with wins against MK Dons and Girona before suffering successive defeats against Real Betis and Dortmund. The Community Shield against Manchester City follows at the weekend.
Wednesday could also provide another opportunity for recently returning senior players to build fitness, with Bukayo Saka and David Raya among those to have returned to training ahead of schedule.
Fabregas’ return adds another storyline to the occasion, but for Arsenal the priority will be completing their final preparations before competitive football begins.
