Agent of Liverpool defender confirms talks underway for transfer exit

The agent of a Liverpool defender has confirmed that talks are underway over a potential transfer exit

Liverpool’s 2026 summer window has centred on reshaping the squad under new manager Andoni Iraola. The club have confirmed the departures of Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate following the expiration of their contracts.

Incoming, Liverpool have added defender Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes and winger Victor Munoz from Osasuna, while Ronald Araujo arrived this week from Barcelona.

Bradley Barcola remains a target to strengthen the attack.

One of Liverpool’s newest signings is now generating interest of his own, though not from the direction supporters might expect.

According to Danish outlet Tipsbladet, the agent of Ifeanyi Ndukwe has confirmed that Danish clubs are chasing the young Liverpool defender. The 18-year-old was earlier reported by Fabrizio Romano and The Athletic to be attracting interest from clubs in Denmark, Portugal, Belgium, France and Spain.

Georg Lederer, Ndukwe’s agent at More Than Sport, told Tipsbladet he could confirm contact with Danish clubs, though not the country’s biggest sides.

He said talks with clubs from other countries were also ongoing, with Liverpool working alongside him to decide where Ndukwe would fit best:

“I can’t say which clubs we are in dialogue with, but I can confirm that we are in dialogue with Danish clubs about Ifeanyi Ndukwe. The only thing I can say is that we are not talking about the top clubs in Denmark “

He added:

“We look at several different parameters. First of all, it’s about Ifeanyi getting a lot of playing time, and then Liverpool are also looking at what type of football clubs play, as they want him in a high-pressing defence, so it’s a bit similar to what you see in Liverpool.

“Since Ifeanyi has just arrived at Liverpool, it is of course a loan deal with no option to buy, but for now I can’t see much more,”

Randers FC is one of the Danish clubs in the conversation, according to Tipsbladet, though talks did not advance because Liverpool want a guarantee of significant playing time.

There is also a practical reason behind the timing. Ndukwe does not yet have a work permit in England, meaning he can currently only play in friendly matches for Liverpool, and a loan would let him get competitive football elsewhere while that is resolved.

The 18-year-old joined Liverpool from Austria Wien, with the transfer agreed in January before being completed once the summer window opened.

His path now looks set to run through a temporary switch away from Anfield before he returns to challenge for a first-team place.
