The Philadelphia Eagles have had a busy offseason, helping lock down their defensive front by signing both Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis to lucrative contract extensions. While the moves will keep the former University of Georgia teammates in Philadelphia for the long haul, they will also potentially have a trickle-down effect on some other members of the team.
Recently, NFL insider Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reported on one player who could be the odd man out after those extensions.
“One big name to watch for 2027 free agency is defensive end Moro Ojomo. The Eagles paid defensive tackles Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis this offseason, and they often do such things with the understanding that good supporting players must walk (i.e. Milton Williams two offseasons ago). Ojomo is potentially next. He'll have significant free agency interest if Philly lets him slide out of town,” reported Fowler on ESPN.com.

Indeed, Ojomo has been a stalwart of the Eagles' defense for multiple seasons now, making some big plays in their Super Bowl win over the Kansas City Chiefs two years ago and only growing into his role further last season. Losing him in free agency next year just as he is about to hit his prime would certainly be a bitter pill to swallow, but it was also something that general manager Howie Roseman surely took into account before shelling out the big bucks to Carter and Davis.
As presently constructed, the Eagles have arguably the most talented defensive lineup in the entire NFL, and they will hope that the offense can catch up this year and balance things out after a frustrating 2025 season.
Philadelphia will kick off its new season on September 13.
