Aston Villa are expected to make more signings before the summer transfer window closes
Aston Villa’s 2026/27 campaign will kick off sooner than any other Premier League side, with the Villans set to take on Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday evening. It will be a fine test of Unai Emery’s side’s strength ahead of making their Champions League return this season, and there should be plenty of new faces involved.

After losing both Morgan Rogers and Youri Tielemans to Chelsea and Manchester United respectively, Villa responded by bringing in the likes of Joao Gomes, Alejandro Garnacho and Johan Manzambi, all of whom will be hopeful of becoming key players at Villa Park over the coming months.
There’s also still a few weeks of the summer transfer window left to go, and Villa are expected to busy as they look to fine tune their squad. A number of top quality players continue to be linked with a move to the West Midlands, with Emery increasingly keen to fill the gaps in his side ahead of another gruelling campaign that will see the club once again compete in four competitions.
Ahead of Villa’s season curtain-raiser against the Champions League winners, we’ve taken a look at some of the players that could find their way to Villa Park before the summer transfer window closes on September 1st.
The top class signings Aston Villa can still make this summer: Jackson to David

Nicolas Jackson - Chelsea: The mercurial Blues striker spent last season on loan at Bayern Munich, playing understudy to Harry Kane and making just 12 Bundesliga starts across their title-winning campaign. He could well leave Chelsea this summer, and Emery is believed to be a big fan of the Senegalese striker he previously managed him at Villarreal.
The Blues’ asking price could be a sticking point, however, and is believed to have slowed down Villa’s attempts to push through a deal. Chelsea are said to want £65m for Jackson, which may be a figure Villa are unwilling to pay. The 25-year-old has scored 30 goals in 81 games for the Blues, but has continually caused frustration with his inconsistent finishing and dire disciplinary record.
Endrick - Real Madrid: The 20-year-old’s future at Real Madrid has been uncertain for some time, especially after he recently excelled on loan at Lyon, scoring eight goals and providing eight assists in just half a season. Villa had been linked with a move for Endrick, but it’s now looking more unlikely, with Los Blancos boss Jose Mourinho supposedly now looking to keep him.
Jonathan David - Juventus: Last January, seemingly every top flight club in world football was trying to sign David, who was set to become a free agent after leaving Lille. A Premier League move never happened, with the player opting for a trip to Turin instead. He had a largely miserable debut campaign in Serie A, and Juventus now look set to flip him after just one season.
David, who scored three goals in five World Cup appearances for Canada, is said to be firmly back on Villa’s radar. He’s likely to be available for less than £25m, and boasts a real versatility which enables him to lead the line or slot in behind a striker. Emery will be hopeful he can reignite a once prolific forward who scored 109 goals in 232 games for Lille.

Matteo Ruggeri - Atletico Madrid: Villa are close to signing the Italian ace, who will come in as a direct replacement for Lucas Digne, following his move to Paris Saint-Germain. A bargain £17m fee means Ruggeri’s capture is a real coup for Villa, who will be bagging a former Europa League winner with bags of experience in Serie A and La Liga.
Joao Palhinha - Bayern Munich: After Amadou Onana suffered an unfortunate ACL injury at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Villa are in need of reinforcements in midfield, and the club are believed to be keen on signing Palhinha on loan. He had a temporary spell at Spurs last season, and is said to have been told he’s no longer needed at Bayern.
Pulling off the deal is likely to be complicated, however. Villa are believed to only want the ex-Fulham star on a season-long basis, while transfer rivals Newcastle United could look to offer Bayern a more tempting, permanent deal. It could well come down to where the player himself wants to go, and if that’s the case, he’ll likely be heading to Villa Park.
Igor Paixao - Marseille: Another option out wide, Paixao is said to be on the radar of several Premier League clubs, including Villa and Leeds United. The 26-year-old impressed during his Ligue 1 debut, after a blistering spell with Feyenoord saw him snapped up last summer. The club’s rumoured £43m valuation of the player could be an issue for Villa and other potential buyers, however.
