Arsenal Women have stepped up their pre-season preparations in Spain as Renée Slegers begins integrating a significantly reshaped squad ahead of the new WSL campaign.
The squad are currently working at a warm-weather training camp in La Manga, with Arsenal publishing fresh footage from Tuesday’s session. It comes only days after Slegers’ side began their match programme with a 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace.
Lisa Baum scored the equaliser in that game before Chloe Kelly completed the turnaround, giving one of Arsenal’s summer arrivals an immediate contribution. ReadArsenal covered Baum’s goal and the Palace comeback after Slegers changed her entire XI at half-time.

This summer has brought considerable change to Slegers’ squad.
Arsenal’s official transfer list includes new arrivals such as Georgia Stanway, Ona Batlle, Lisa Baum, Selina Cerci, Géraldine Reuteler, Isabelle Damm and Misa Rodríguez. The club had already pictured all seven during pre-season testing before the trip to Spain.
The La Manga camp therefore gives Slegers valuable time to establish combinations and roles before the competitive season begins.
Arsenal still have two confirmed home friendlies later this month. They face Paris FC at Meadow Park on Sunday, 23 August, before another fixture on Wednesday, 26 August.
The WSL campaign then begins away at Brighton on 6 September, leaving Slegers with several weeks to bring a new-look group together.
The Palace win was an encouraging starting point rather than a finished product. Baum’s goal offered an early sign of how quickly some of the new arrivals could contribute, while the Spain camp should provide Slegers with a clearer picture of the squad she wants to begin the season with.
