Arsenal have received a potential transfer boost after reported attacking target Iliman Ndiaye decided against joining Saudi Pro League giants Al-Hilal.
The Everton winger has rejected the opportunity to move to Saudi Arabia despite a lucrative financial package being available because his preference is to continue playing in the Premier League.
Transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano reports that Ndiaye has made his decision and will not proceed with the proposed Al-Hilal move.
The development could be significant for Arsenal after the club recently registered an interest in the Senegal international while assessing alternatives to Vinicius Junior.
Arsenal had made an enquiry over Ndiaye, although Al-Hilal’s financial strength initially appeared to make the Saudi club particularly difficult competition for his signature.
That obstacle has now been removed by the player himself, although there is currently no indication that Arsenal have submitted a formal offer to Everton.
Ndiaye’s preference to remain in England could nevertheless strengthen Arsenal’s position should sporting director Andrea Berta decide to turn their interest into a concrete approach.
The 26-year-old has emerged among the attacking options being considered following Vinicius’ decision to sign a new Real Madrid contract until 2032.
Arsenal still want to strengthen on the left side of their attack and Ndiaye offers Premier League experience alongside the versatility to operate from several attacking positions.
He completed his second campaign at Everton last season after arriving from Marseille in July 2024 and registered six goals and three assists in the Premier League.
Ndiaye’s ability to carry the ball and beat defenders has also made him one of Everton’s most important attacking players, increasing the difficulty of negotiating his departure.
Everton are consequently under little contractual pressure to sell, with the Senegal international tied to the Merseyside club until 2029.
Reports have suggested Everton value Ndiaye at around £70 million, meaning Arsenal would still have to make a considerable investment even with Al-Hilal no longer pursuing the deal.
The Gunners are not alone in monitoring his situation either, with other Premier League clubs having been linked with the forward during the summer.
However, Ndiaye’s decision has clarified one important aspect of his future.
A lucrative Saudi switch is no longer under consideration, and his determination to remain in the Premier League ensures Arsenal retain a realistic route to the player if they decide he is the right option to strengthen their attack.
