Tottenham-linked Premier League winger is wanted by arch-rivals Arsenal.
Tottenham Hotspur’s search for new additions to their forward line remains in progress. There is an urgent need to bring in new attackers who could provide a different dynamic in the final third.
Spurs are linked with several attackers, but the club has yet to make significant progress on any potential deals for almost a month. Manchester City winger Savinho remains Roberto De Zerbi’s primary target. For weeks and months, Tottenham have been in negotiations with Manchester City to sign Savinho. To date, though, there hasn’t been any breakthrough in talks.
While reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano recently claimed that the Savinho deal “remains on”, it hasn’t stopped the Lilywhites from scouring the market for the Brazilian’s alternatives.
Arsenal enter transfer race for Tottenham-linked Chelsea winger
Chelsea’s Pedro Neto is reportedly being viewed as an alternative to Savinho by the Tottenham bosses. The Portuguese international has been a long-time target for the North Londoners, ever since his days with Wolverhampton Wanderers. He remains one of several dynamic attacking options under serious consideration, although Spurs aren’t the only club interested.
According to journalist Simon Phillips, Arsenal have entered the race to sign Pedro Neto. Chelsea would be willing to sell the winger for the right price, which is understood to be around £70-£75m.
“Chelsea would sell him if the money’s right,” Simon Phillips said on his YouTube channel.
“I believe similar sort of money that they are asking for Malo Gusto, which is reportedly around £70-£75m. And he’s got interest from Tottenham, Liverpool are interested in him, Manchester City, which has been public.
“I have heard from a source over the weekend that Arsenal are also interested in Neto.”
Tottenham need quality on the flanks, and Neto would be a decent option. The former Wolves star can operate on either flank, provide pace, directness and energy, whilst helping create opportunities for his teammates in the final third. However, Chelsea are asking around £70-£75m for the Portuguese, who has lately emerged as a target for Arsenal.
It is worth noting that Neto is viewed as an alternative target to Savinho at Spurs. The focus is entirely on getting a deal for Savinho over the line, by hook or crook, before the September 1 deadline, after missing out on his services last summer. The Brazilian is pushing internally to join De Zerbi’s forces in N17, so it is high time our club meet Man City’s financial demands and secure the player’s signature with the new season fast approaching.
