Liverpool have initiated talks with Paris Saint-Germain over a possible move for Bradley Barcola**.** However, the Reds face a major problem, with Sky Sports News reporting that PSG value the 23-year-old winger at £145 million. That valuation has created a huge gap between the two clubs and could make a deal difficult to complete. Liverpool have also spoken with Barcola’s representatives as they consider their options in attack under new head coach Andoni Iraola.

Liverpool face huge Barcola asking price

As reported by Sky Sports, PSG currently value Barcola at £145m. The French club are under no pressure to sell the winger, despite his reported frustration over a lack of regular game time.

Barcola has two years remaining on his PSG contract and has indicated that he does not intend to sign a new deal at this stage. The possibility of joining Liverpool is understood to appeal to the France international.

The Premier League side’s interest in Barcola is not new. The winger has been on the club’s radar for several years, and his pace, direct running and ability to operate across the attack make him an attractive option for Iraola.

However, PSG’s asking price is the biggest obstacle. The French champions paid around £40m to sign Barcola from Lyon in 2023, meaning their current valuation represents a huge increase. Liverpool will therefore need PSG to significantly lower their demands if they want to make serious progress. The Reds are understood to be assessing whether the winger’s quality and potential justify such a major investment.

Ligue 1 29 11 1 38

Coupe de France 1 0 0 5

Champions League 16 2 4 25

Club World Cup 6 0 2 8

Liverpool also tracking Ibrahim Mbaye

Barcola is not the only PSG winger Liverpool are considering this summer. The Reds have also explored the possibility of signing 18-year-old Ibrahim Mbaye. The teenager is reportedly interested in a move to Anfield.

As reported by Sky Sports, Liverpool’s interest in Mbaye is completely separate from their pursuit of Barcola. That means the Reds could potentially sign both players.

The Reds are planning to have five wingers in their squad by the end of the transfer window, including an additional younger player. The club’s focus on the wide areas is partly linked to Mohamed Salah’s departure. The arrival of another young winger would also give Iraola an option to develop for the future while adding greater depth to his attacking group. That would give Liverpool another exciting attacker, but the financial demands remain a major concern. That could force the Reds to consider cheaper options.

Iraola’s plans make Barcola an ideal fit

Iraola has made attacking width an important part of his football philosophy. During his time with Bournemouth and Rayo Vallecano, his teams relied heavily on wingers who could provide pace, energy and hard work. Barcola fits that profile perfectly and could become an important part of the manager’s plans if Liverpool can reach an agreement with PSG.

The Frenchman has also had plenty of success since joining PSG. He has won nine major trophies in the last two years, including two Champions League titles, showing the kind of experience he can bring despite his young age.

Arsenal are also interested after missing out on Vinicius Junior, who recently extended his Real Madrid contract. For Liverpool, the situation is clear. Barcola is an attractive target, but PSG’s £145m valuation currently stands between the winger and a move to Anfield. Unless the French champions lower their demands, the Reds may have to explore alternative options.
