Chelsea vs Luton Town will take place on Thursday 27 August after the Blues confirmed the date and kick-off time for their Carabao Cup second-round tie.
Xabi Alonso’s side will host the League One club at Stamford Bridge at 7.30pm, with the game also selected for live television coverage in the UK.
Sky Sports+ will broadcast the fixture live as Chelsea begin their pursuit of a sixth League Cup triumph.
The Blues discovered their opponents in Monday evening’s second-round draw but initially only knew the tie would be played during the week commencing 24 August.

Chelsea vs Luton confirmed for Thursday night
Chelsea have now confirmed that supporters will have to wait until Thursday evening for Alonso’s first domestic cup tie as Blues head coach.
The match comes only three days after Chelsea begin their Premier League campaign against Fulham on Monday 24 August, giving Alonso a quick turnaround between the two fixtures.
That could make squad rotation particularly important.
Chelsea have assembled significant depth during the summer and the visit of Luton may provide opportunities for players who are not immediately involved in Alonso’s strongest Premier League XI.
Luton secured their place in round two by beating Gillingham 3-0 in the opening round before being paired with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Ticket information for the tie has not yet been confirmed and Chelsea say further details will be announced in due course.
