Former Manchester United and Everton star Louis Saha has admitted he’s “gutted” by Liverpool’s potential signing of Bradley Barcola, having heaped praise on his fellow Frenchman.
The Reds remain in pursuit of the Paris Saint-Germain winger as they aim to bolster their attacking options, with a replacement for Mohamed Salah on the right wing still proving elusive.
Some reports have suggested that Liverpool might be getting close to agreeing personal terms with Barcola, although a deal for the 23-year-old still looks to be some way off, with PSG standing firm on its hefty valuation of the two-time Champions League winner.
The Reds are still thought to be a long way off the European champions’ asking price, which has been reported to be around $196 million (£145M), while Sky Sports has indicated that PSG would ideally like to keep Barcola.
Should he make the move to Anfield though, Saha is in no doubt that Barcola would be a success at Liverpool - which the former United and Everton star isn’t best pleased about.
"Yes I do think that he'll be successful in the Premier League,” Saha told PariuriX.com. “Bradley is an amazing player. Already a two-time Champions League winner.

"He's a player who's found himself developing so quickly that now he's eager to get recognition and being a superstar at his club. PSG have so many quality players, so he wants to find a club that respects his development. I'm not saying that PSG doesn't, but it's just like Bradley's development has been so quick with the club as well, so he just wants to have the challenge.
"I'm sure that Liverpool understand why they are pursuing this player because he's super fast, great stamina, good combination play, good with the ball on his feet, and can stretch defenses with his runs. We've seen it with France during the World Cup.
"His profile is rare. It's very rare how he can disrupt the defense and it's a big advantage to have players whose strength is in their movement. And his finishing has improved a lot too.

"So Liverpool are going to get a really good player. I'm gutted."
Barcola is in PSG’s squad for Wednesday’s UEFA Super Cup encounter with Aston Villa, having only recently returned to training with the club following his involvement at the World Cup with France.
His manager Luis Enrique faced questions about his future ahead of the game, although the Spaniard was not in the mood to discuss a potential transfer exit.
"I don't know and I don't want to speak about any player individually, because it's always dangerous when you are asking something positive or negative about a player. I stay focused on my team,” Enrique told a press conference.
