The Arizona Cardinals have a new head coach in Mike LaFleur entering the 2026 NFL season. LaFleur is tasked with putting quarterback Jacoby Brissett and his teammates in a position to succeed. Brissett is the undisputed starter in Arizona, so this is his team to lead on the field.
Brissett has seen a lot of things throughout his career. He has played under a few different coaches and has played for all sorts of teams. However, he has noticed some intriguing things about LaFleur and spoke about some of the differences he's spotted within his offense.
“Every week is different, as far as what's being asked of you. The biggest difference is the guys calling the plays. That's what we have training camp for, that's why we're going through a lot of these live situations. Putting us in situations where (LaFleur) and I are clicking a little bit faster than (we) need to be. That's the most exciting thing,” the Cardinals quarterback told Ian Rapoport on Tuesday.
Brissett emerged as the starting quarterback last season, playing in 14 games. He threw for 3366 yards, tossing 23 touchdowns to just eight interceptions. Overall, the Cardinals did not have a great season, winning just three games. Still, Brissett provided solid play under center.
This year, Arizona committed to him as its quarterback. The veteran signed a new contract with the Cardinals, giving him a pay raise for the 2026 season. He will be the man to lead this LaFleur offense, and he will lead the team onto the field in Week 1 for Arizona when they take on the Los Angeles Chargers on the road.
