Ex-Man Utd striker Louis Saha has backed his former club to make a move for Arsenal’s Myles Lewis-Skelly.
It is believed that both the Red Devils and Chelsea have been offered the 19-year-old by intermediaries, and speaking to PariuriX.com about the prospect of the teenager making the switch to Old Trafford, Saha said:
“Myles Lewis-Skelly is a really exciting player, and he is still very young, so Man Utd could get a really talented player if they get him.”
“He is a player who can play multiple positions, so I do think he would be very interesting for Man Utd. More and more Arsenal players are willing to consider a move to Man Utd, which is great. A few have been coming, which is great.”
“I think we have to look at reinforcing the left-back position, and I think it is really important, even though Luke Shaw did well last year, but he is always in a position where his body can let him down anytime.”
How much would it cost to sign Lewis-Skelly?
The Guardian have reported that the Gunners could be willing to part ways with their left-back for around £45m, which is believed to be well within United’s price range.
Lewis-Skelly has the potential to improve in the future, and combined with his ability to play in multiple positions, it does seem like a deal that the Manchester club should consider.
Hall is still Man Utd’s top target
Despite being offered Lewis-Skelly, several reports insist that Newcastle’s Lewis Hall remains the priority for Director of Football Jason Wilcox.
There are, though, several hurdles in the way of signing the defender. Hall’s club are not willing sellers, having already sold captain Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon.
Even if, as some claim, Hall is keen on moving to Manchester, the Magpies won’t make things easy, and he is expected to cost a lot more to buy than Lewis-Skelly.
