Emmanuel Emegha was one of the first casualties of the Xabi Alonso era, with a big rush for him to return for the Premier League season.

Emmanuel Emegha’s pre-season took a proper kick in the teeth just as he was hitting his stride. After banging in two goals in his first two outings, netting against both Crawley Town and Bromley, he yanked his hamstring during that behind-closed-doors match at Cobham.

It came at a brutal time because he had to sit out the entire pre-season tour, but the early medical diagnosis brought a bit of relief. The initial timeline for Emegha was mapped out specifically to get him back in full training and fit in time for Chelsea’s Premier League opener against Fulham.

In fact, it looks as if things are going better than expected.

Emmanuel Emegha already back in Chelsea training

What a sight for sore eyes at Cobham today. Emmanuel Emegha has finally been spotted back on the grass, joining up with the rest of the returning squad after that frustrating hamstring tweak.

The full squad are now all back at Chelsea, including Enzo Fernandez, Valentin Barco, Reece James, Morgan Rogers, Jordan Henderson, Malo Gusto, Maxence Lacroix, and Emmanuel Emegha.

They are training in a reduced group in London awaiting the rest of the team.
