The summer transfer window is reaching a crescendo in the Premier League. Plenty of high-profile deals have already flown through the doors, but there is still time for teams to make some earth-shattering signings.
Recently, an intriguing rumour has been abundant. Harry Kane left Tottenham Hotspur to join Bayern Munich in the summer of 2023, almost three years ago to the day – now, he may well be on his way back to North London.
Spurs have reportedly made ‘enquiries’ into Kane’s status at Bayern ahead of a possible transfer. Roberto De Zerbi is planning an ambitious rebuild at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium – could Kane become his crowning jewel?
While this sounds promising, according to a report from TEAMtalk, it could end up being a false dawn. While Spurs’ interest is evident, Bayern are ‘confident’ that they can tie Kane down with a new contract, effectively scuppering the Lilywhites’ transfer hopes.
As well as this, Tottenham are not the only club who want to sign Kane this summer. A prior piece from TEAMtalk claimed that Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United are monitoring his situation, as are teams in the Saudi Pro League
Due to this, even if Spurs were able to make a breakthrough and Kane rejected a new contract offer from the Bavarian giants, they’d still have to compete against some of the biggest hitters in world football.
Does Kane even want to return to the Premier League? He has accomplished more at Bayern Munich than he has anywhere else, but he may feel like he has unifinished business in his country of birth. Only time will tell at this stage.

Would Kane still be an effective player in the Premier League?
If Kane’s performances in the Bundesliga and 2026 World Cup are anything to go by, then it’s clear that he would still be amongst the leading forwards in the Premier League if he made his return to England’s top division.
Arguably the best goalscorer in the world right now, Kane offers far more than just ruthlessness in the box. Technically excellent, he loves to drop deep and create chances, as well as finish them.
His goal record obviously stands out as his strongest point, but his multi-faceted approach to the game is what makes him a truly world-class footballer. Sometimes, his propensity for drifting into midfield can be to his detriment – to work effectively, he needs to work in tandem with attacking-minded midfield players.
Without this, his presence in the box can sometimes be missed. It’s a part of his game that has often been criticised, yet has brought dividends when accounted for. His passing and ability to shield the ball is fantastic, making him a highly underrated playmaker.
In short, Kane would still be a brilliant addition to any team in the Premier League. While it looks likely he’ll be staying at Bayern, this could be a transfer saga to keep tabs on.
