Liverpool may discover the outcome of their pursuit of Bradley Barcola sooner rather than later

Liverpool will be one step closer to discovering their fate in the transfer window on Wednesday night. The Reds’ summer-long chase for PSG winger Bradley Barcola has somewhat overshadowed the Anfield club’s business this summer.

Barcola, who reportedly has a staggering £145 million price tag attached to him, could be set to feature for the Parisians in the UEFA Super Cup final this evening. The implications of whether he plays or not could be huge for his future.

Elsewhere in today's Liverpool news, the agent of a young Reds star has leaked that his teenage client is in dialogue over a move away from the club.

Barcola signal

Barcola is in the squad for the reigning European champions' tie against Europa League winners Villa on Wednesday evening. If he is in the first XI, however, it could send a very telling signal to Liverpool that the Paris side have designs on keeping the 23-year-old.

That could also be a cute tactic to force the Reds to cough up a hefty fee, however. Numbers in the region of £128m-£145m are being reported for the deal and Barcola is said to be keen on a move to Merseyside.

Barcola's inclusion may force the Reds may show their hand if they believe PSG are reintegrating the player into their first team, following his extended break after World Cup duty.

Yet if he is on the bench, then Liverpool may have an increased shot at landing the winger this summer. Put simply, Reds' boss Andoni Iraola will know a lot more where he stands over a move for Barcola once the team sheets for the Super Cup drop this evening.

There is a thought that PSG are waiting on replacements before sanctioning a deal for Barcola to depart. Luis Enrique’s side have been chasing Barcelona’s Ferran Torres, with a deal thought to be close.

They are also interested in Ajax forward Mika Godts, and if PSG pull both signings off, many believe it will pave the way for Barcola to leave. The Ligue 1 side have already signed Monaco winger Maghnes Akliouche this summer, adding to their stacked roster in forward areas.

Speaking on the French star's future, PSG boss Enrique said: “I don’t know and I don’t want to speak about any player individually, because it’s always dangerous when you are asking something positive or negative about a player. I stay focused on my team.”

Agent leaks move

The agent of Liverpool starlet Ifeanyi Ndukwe has confirmed that talks are underway with several clubs about a move this summer. The Reds are looking to send the 18-year-old out on loan, as the youngster, who was recently signed from Austria Wien, does not yet have a work permit to play in England.

He is allowed to play in pre-season, with the defender earning rave reviews for Liverpool this summer, having played in all four games so far. However, rules state he is not allowed to play for the club in a competitive game this year as he hasn't reach the points target required to qualify for a UK work permit - and so a loan would be ideal for the Reds.

His representative, Georg Lederer, said: “I can’t say which clubs we are in dialogue with, but I can confirm that we are in dialogue with Danish clubs about Ifeanyi Ndukwe. The only thing I can say is that it is not about the top clubs in Denmark.

“We are also talking to several foreign clubs, but right now we have to decide in collaboration with Liverpool where Ifeanyi will fit best.

“We are looking at several different parameters. First and foremost, it is about Ifeanyi getting a lot of playing time, and then Liverpool is also looking at what type of football clubs play, as they want him to play in a high-pressing defence, so it is a bit like what you see in Liverpool.

“Since Ifeanyi has just joined Liverpool, it is of course a loan deal without an option to buy. But for now I can’t say much more.”
