Michael Carrick could bolster his Manchester United squad by signing one of a Premier League rival's brightest young prospects.

After the club legend returned to Old Trafford and guided the Red Devils to a surprise third-placed finish last season and qualified for Champions League football, Carrick's side are now unbeaten in three pre-season encounters since falling to defeat against Wrexham in their opening friendly. They secured a 1-1 draw with European champions Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday as Bryan Mbeumo found the net for his third strike in two matches.

Now, the Premier League titans are looking to maintain their upward trajectory after already securing Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans for their midfield ranks. And Arsenal could offer some opportune transfer assistance. Here's all the latest news from Old Trafford.

Lewis-Skelly offered to United

The £75million acquisition of Bruno Guimaraes appears poised to trigger a knock-on effect at the Emirates Stadium, reports the Mirror.

This follows claims that England prospect Myles Lewis-Skelly has been presented to United and Chelsea this week as available for sale. His prospective price is thought to be in the region of £45m.

Despite demonstrating considerable potential as a left-back talent originally, Mikel Arteta deployed Lewis-Skelly in midfield during the previous campaign.

The 19-year-old delivered some vital performances towards the conclusion of last season as the Gunners secured the Premier League title and reached the Champions League final.

United have a pressing requirement for a new left-back as they hunt for a long-term replacement for Luke Shaw. Newcastle's Lewis Hall has been heavily touted as a contender for that position, though the Magpies are said to be reluctant to part ways with him.

football. london broke the Lewis-Skelly story initially, with Arteta appearing content with Jurrien Timber, Riccardo Calafiori and Piero Hincapie as his left-back choices.

Chelsea could pose a significant challenge to any ambitions of securing Lewis-Skelly, particularly given his London roots and previous stint training at Cobham during his youth days.

The teenager would suit United's transfer requirements, given they're believed to be pursuing one additional midfield option, alongside a fresh left-back prospect.

Real trio up for sale

Jose Mourinho is said to be willing to offload three players considered excess to requirements at Real Madrid.

United could be among the contenders to benefit. According to Spanish publication AS, 'The Special One' has declared his desire for a squad of 20, plus the currently sidelined trio of Rodrygo, Eder Militao and Ferland Mendy.

Nevertheless, Mendy is among those players who might be shipped out due to the fierce competition at left-back following Marc Cucurella's arrival from Chelsea.

Mendy has no desire to depart the Bernabeu, yet his fitness concerns have done little to convince Madrid of his reliability. Former United prospect Alvaro Carreras is the other left-back option thought to be positioned above the Frenchman in the hierarchy.

Should Mendy have a change of heart, this development could certainly capture United's attention.

Eduardo Camavinga finds himself in a comparable situation and has no wish to exit Real. United have been heavily linked with the midfielder previously and could benefit from his abilities, given Camavinga has already demonstrated his versatility in midfield or at left-back.

The other Real name allegedly available is academy graduate Raul Asencio. However, United aren't presently believed to be actively pursuing fresh options in central defence.

United have already endured repeated disappointment with Shaw's absence through injuries across recent seasons. For that very reason, Camavinga may not be the sole name reportedly on the market at Real with a realistic prospect of joining United this summer.
