Brennan Johnson has the perfect response to Everton swap deal critics
Brennan Johnson has hit back at the pundits who mocked his move to Everton — and did so with just a few carefully chosen words.
Responding to comments underneath a post referencing Jamie O’Hara and Gabby Agbonlahor’s dismissal of the Everton-Crystal Palace swap deal, Johnson wrote:
“Won more than both of these put together 😂.”
The comment, posted from his verified Instagram account, had racked up 534 likes and dozens of replies within an hour.
It’s a pointed dig.
O’Hara summed up the swap as Everton and Palace trading “cr@p for cr@p,” while Agbonlahor called Johnson “a myth” — but neither pundit won major honours during their own playing careers.
Johnson, by contrast, arrives at the Hill Dickinson with a Europa League winner’s medal from his time at Tottenham and a Conference League title picked up during his short spell at Palace.
It’s the kind of response that will go down well with Evertonians already tired of the instant scepticism that’s greeted the club’s business this summer.
Johnson has been vocal about his excitement to join since the deal was completed, saying he wants to “come in and show what I can do” under David Moyes.
Whether the response translates into performances on the pitch remains to be seen, but early signs suggest Brennan Johnson isn’t short of confidence heading into the new season.
