Chelsea Women vs A-League All Stars: confirmed line-ups and team news
Chelsea Women XI vs A-League All Stars has been confirmed, with Lauren James making her first appearance of pre-season and Lucy Bronze returning to captain Sonia Bompastor’s side in Sydney. Hannah Hampton also comes into the starting line-up as Chelsea make three changes from Saturday’s 7-0 victory in Auckland.
James did not feature against Auckland FC but has been handed an immediate start at Allianz Stadium as Chelsea complete their Australasian tour.
Chelsea confirmed the starting line-up on their official website, with James replacing young midfielder Lexi Potter.
Bronze comes in for Kadeisha Buchanan and takes the captain’s armband, while Hampton replaces Livia Peng between the posts.
Chelsea: Hampton; Carpenter, Girma, Bronze (c), McCabe; Nusken, James, Kaptein; Baltimore, Thompson, Beever-Jones.
Substitutes: Peng, Cox, Ramirez, Dragoni, Las, Walsh, Hamano, Brown, Buchanan, Potter, Sarwie.
Aggie Beever-Jones retains her place after scoring a first-half hat-trick against Auckland.
ReadChelsea looked earlier on Wednesday at Beever-Jones’ challenge to Chelsea following her flying start to pre-season, with the striker calling on Bompastor’s side to produce another strong performance in Sydney.
There is also a notable return on the bench, with Keira Walsh available again after missing the Auckland victory.
James’ inclusion is arguably the biggest selection development. Her return adds another elite attacking option alongside Beever-Jones, Sandy Baltimore and Alyssa Thompson as Chelsea look to end their tour with another victory.
