Chelsea and Man Utd make shock Myles Lewis-Skelly decision after Arsenal twist

Myles Lewis-Skelly Arsenal transfer speculation has taken another turn after Chelsea and Manchester United reportedly decided against pursuing the teenager.

Lewis-Skelly’s future has come under scrutiny following Bruno Guimaraes’ £75million arrival, which has increased the competition for places in Mikel Arteta’s midfield.

Reports on Tuesday claimed Chelsea and United had both been alerted to the 19-year-old’s situation. However, a fresh update from The Telegraph says both clubs have now turned down the opportunity to sign him.

The report says an intermediary associated with Lewis-Skelly contacted the two Premier League clubs, rather than stating that Arsenal directly offered the player to them.

Arsenal maintain they have not actively offered Myles Lewis-Skelly out for transfer. He is not someone the club set out to sell this summer. There are certainly others who meet that description.

Lewis-Skelly’s own position also appears clear.

The Athletic reported that the Hale End graduate is happy at Arsenal and remains fully focused on establishing himself in Arteta’s first-team plans. He is not currently exploring a move away from the Emirates.

That comes after ReadArsenal reported on Tuesday that Chelsea had been sounded out over a possible £60million move following Guimaraes’ arrival.

There have been conflicting reports surrounding Chelsea’s level of interest. The Times suggested the Blues could be keen if Arsenal ultimately decide to cash in, while the latest Telegraph update says Chelsea have declined the opportunity presented to them.

United are also said to have decided against a move, with Arsenal’s valuation previously reported to be an obstacle.

For Lewis-Skelly, the latest developments could strengthen the possibility of him remaining in north London and fighting for his place.

Competition will still be fierce. Guimaraes joins Declan Rice, Martin Zubimendi, Martin Odegaard, Mikel Merino and Eberechi Eze among Arteta’s midfield options.

Lewis-Skelly could get another chance to make his case when Arsenal face Como at the Emirates on Wednesday evening.
