Inter Milan could get Curtis Jones at reduced fee

Curtis Jones’s future at Anfield continues to hang in the balance, with Inter Milan refusing to back away from their long-running pursuit of the homegrown midfielder.

The Serie A champions have already seen two bids knocked back this summer, with Liverpool holding out for a fee closer to €40m for the 25-year-old, who enters the final year of his contract.

With no active contract talks currently taking place and the club wary of losing another asset for nothing next summer, the situation appears to be edging closer to a resolution one way or another.

Now Fabrizio Romano, taking to X, has reported that Inter Milan could get Jones at a reduced fee compared to Liverpool’s original request of €40m:

“Inter maintain Curtis Jones as priority target since May and now feel deal could happen with Liverpool at €35m fee. There’s still no green light to new bid until Davide Frattesi’s exit but Inter definitely will try again for Curtis before the window ends.”

Meanwhile, Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reported that should Davide Frattesi make a switch to Lazio, Inter Milan will return for the 25-year-old with renewed vigour:

“Lazio and Inter are working on the transfer of Davide Frattesi. The two clubs are negotiating on the basis of a loan with the right to buy and conditional obligation.”

“In the formula on which the two teams are working, the Nerazzurri also maintain a percentage of the future resale of the midfielder. With the possible exit of Frattesi, Inter will return to Curtis Jones to close with Liverpool.”

Jones missed the friendly against AS Monaco with a hip concern, but it’s not expected to be a major setback.
