PL Giants'Weighing Up'Move for Ligue 1 Star

Both Chelsea and Manchester United have made some lucrative transfers thus far in the summer. Nevertheless, the two Premier League giants aren’t done yet.

Crystal Palace recently made an effort to snap up Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara, but their efforts have hit a speedbump after their offer in excess of £42 million was rejected.

Now, United and Chelsea could swoop in and pick up the pieces. He is ‘ready to leave’ Monaco in the coming weeks, so the door is open for a move to be made.

According to a report from TEAMtalk, both the Red Devils and the Blues are now ‘plotting’ a move to sign the player. It’s unclear how much he will cost, though it’s safe to assume they’ll have to exceed the rejected offer of £42 million.

They aren’t the only clubs in the race, though. Teams from abroad, such as Real Madrid, RB Leipzig, Bayern Munich and PSG have all been linked with Camara’s signature.

As well as this, fellow Premier League clubs are also believed to be in the mix. A report from Foot Mercato claims that both Liverpool and Nottingham Forest could action a transfer for the 22-year-old before the window slams shut.

Furthermore, TransferFeed claims that others teams, such as Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur also have an interest.

From the outset, competition to secure Camara’s services could be incredibly fierce. Whoever looks to sign him will have to fend off some hefty competition.

What would Camara bring to Chelsea or Man Utd?

Camara has plenty of potential in the modern. He is still operating a very high level, but at just 22 years of age, he has plenty of scope for growth as a footballer. He has already won 49 caps for Senegal and was included in their 2026 World Cup squad.

Not only has he become a mainstay of Monaco’s starting XI in Ligue 1, he has also earned plenty of experience in the Champions League. They reached the knockout playoffs of the competition, where they were beaten by PSG by a score of 5-4 on aggregate.

Camara played in all 180 minutes of this two-legged tie, making a strong impression throughout. Clearly, if he put forth a strong performance against the best team in the world, he is ready to make waves in the Premier League.

While he primarily functions as a central midfielder, his aggressive nature and high work rate means that he can also play as a defensive midfielder if necessary.

While his work ethic is commendable, his biggest talents shine through when he is in possession. A brilliant passer of the ball, he is excellent at picking out his teammates through the lines.

Furthermore, he is also a fantastic free kick taker. We cannot stress enough that he is playing well beyond his years – to be a midfield general at his age is some feat. If he continues to develop on his current trajectory, he will become a truly world-class talent.
