Curtis Jones future set to match Djed Spence's with summer transfer steal all but agreed

Liverpool will be keeping an eye on everything happening on the transfer market, with the future of Curtis Jones likely to match the future of others this window.

The fate of Curtis Jones and Djed Spence appears to be intertwined, as the Liverpool and Tottenham stars remain in the sights of Inter Milan this summer.

The pair of England internationals have been targeted throughout the transfer window so far, with similar situations leaving them with the option of exiting their respective clubs in the coming weeks.

For Jones, the opportunity comes as he enters the final 12 months of his contract at Liverpool, with a crossroads ahead surrounding the signing of a long-term extension or looking for regular minutes elsewhere. The latter has appeared more likely as the market has dragged on, with Inter Milan making two offers for the midfielder already, both of which were turned down immediately.

As Liverpool holds firm on landing its valuation of the academy graduate this summer, the Nerazzurri is considering potential sales for players like Davide Frattesi to raise funds.

So far, though, Jones has given the green light to joining Inter Milan and that could force the Merseyside outfit to compromise on the valuation that has been set.

Fabrizio Romano reports that the Italian club thinks a deal can be done at €35 million ($40.4 million), which is less than the initial asking price set by Liverpool, perhaps indicating where the transfer deal is heading.

The current Serie A champions are trying to be as frugal as possible with their options, especially considering that Jones isn't the only target the team is trying to get over the line.

It's a move for Spence that is set to impact the funds available to Inter Milan, as reports claim that the Tottenham defender has all but agreed a move to the club for roughly $35 million.

Spence was linked with a move to Liverpool earlier in the transfer window, considering the issues that the Reds have at right-back with injuries and form for key players.

However, the recruitment team has decided against making a move for the Tottenham ace, with a move to Inter Milan viewed as a relative steal, considering the quality he showed during the summer at the World Cup.

That should see both Spence and Jones eventually reunite as teammates on the club stage, and not just on the international one, in an interesting move for the pair.

It remains to be seen whether those moves get sealed, and then how the pair do in what will be a new opportunity and a chance to get regular minutes at the top level.
